Clock this!

Today we attended the funeral of our lovely old neighbour from when we lived near Tamworth when our children were growing up. He died aged 89 after living with prostate cancer for the past 27 years - such is the amazing progress in research and treatment of this disease. He and his wife and family were such kind and caring neighbours and their daughter used to babysit our son and daughter, not to mention helping at their birthday parties, and so forth. Shed some tears, but was so glad we were there to say goodbye and reconnect with the family. (It's twenty years since we left the area.)

Then it was back to my sister J's, not just to pick up our things, but to bring her home with us to stay for a long weekend. We had planned it, but even so, there's nothing like a funeral to make you appreciate your family and want to take every opportunity of spending time together. After a wet start we arrived back in Lincolnshire to sunshine.

Before we left J's house, I photographed this lovely time-piece that she turned from a burr of elm. I'm pleased that the photo preserved its delicate colouring.
