I suppose a lot of it is explained by his diet of brylcreem and Virol.  But, at the same time, Akela was giving him early, tender, guidance with his woggle.  Apparently he's repainted his yoyo.  He was perpetually perplexed - his Uncle Hamish told him he was raised by wolves.  On reflection he realises he spent too much time playing with his conkers.

His biggest disappointment was that and Alf Tupper never wrote back; and he still hasn't found his Eagle Annual.
