Hanging on

After awful rain yesterday we woke to a fairly decent autumnal morning.
MrKT had led us to this area to try out a couple of via ferrata routes. We didn’t have much info on them except that one was easy, and the other difficult- so I was immediately opting out of the second one.
The walk up through the woods was lovely - lots of beech trees and glorious autumn colours. The first via ferrata route turned out to be a serious of short scrambles over rocky outcrops and a few cables routes. The rock was very wet and slippy and I decided to give it a miss opting to walk the paths and watch MrKT.
The second route was a series of cables sections round a higher rock face. MrKT was up for the challenge of course. It started well, first section done, a few tricky moves. Then the second and things didn’t go so well, an overhang and slippy rock left him hanging - literally. He wasn’t in danger of falling off or getting hurt, but he was very stuck for a while. The worst outcome could have been an embarrassed call to the mountain rescue. He did eventually get off the route and decided to call it a day! A learning experience- although I’m not yet sure what we have learned.
And we ended the day with a long drive in the rain north towards Holland - stopping for the night at a place called Lotte.
