Purple Smoke

I just love the plume like sprays of flowers and so did the bees. In the brief window between showers I did a quick garden safari though to be fair there wasn't a great deal of insect life about on such a damp very grey day.

The smoke bush seemed to be attracting a few bees of varying sorts and I managed to capture this fellow working it's way over the loose, feathery panicles of tiny pink buds and yellow flowers. The stunning purple almost plum red brooding depth of colour is a winner bush is magnificent at the moment obviously thriving with all the water it's had lately!!

On watering the tomatoes did a great tit rescue in the greenhouse when I discovered one had been trapped in having most likely flown in through the sky-lights which had then closed up as soon as it got a bit chilly. Poor thing it was going frantic, bashing against the glass!

Did a bee rescue too last night after finding one on the floor of the conservatory looking a bit dodgy. Popping it straight onto the wild geraniums it dunked it's tongue straight into the base of the flower. Pushing and manoeuvring it on from bloom to bloom, a few encouraging words and it gradually got more strength till eventually after a time it managed to fly off. I felt quite chuffed with myself with that one!! Pity it was too late to blip it! :))
