Boys will be boys

The boys were good and got dressed quickly for our day out. It was another day of mizzle and low cloud - it’s been the same here for 2 weeks.

First we went to a farm near Seahouses that had a pumpkin patch and other attractions. £45 for us all. We got 3 tokens each to spend, so the boys got ours. They went in a fun house first, then a bouncy castle. The maze of bales was free, and after that it was a walk in the spooky wood.
It was well done with lots of scary skeletons, ghouls etc. They had a burger from a stall for lunch followed by a toffee apple. Then they chose a pumpkin. It was one token per pumpkin so James got 2 and Thomas 3. They spent the last tokens on lucky dips. They decided they’d not bother carving the pumpkins in the tent - they could do that here or at home. From the farm there were great views to Bamburgh in the north and the Farnes in the east.

The sun was bright at the coast so we went to the dunes. They were wishing they’d brought their body boards - I was glad they hadn’t as the sea was wild. They had great fun on this tree which had been washed up in the recent storms. However the tide was still coming in so they had to abandon it and jump up onto the dune to escape the froth of the waves. They did this for ages and eventually got wet of course. In the distance you can see the Farne Islands. Some fishing boats had a struggle to get into the harbour and the sea was rough.

It’ll be a quiet night in preparation for Ella and Nathaniel coming tomorrow.
