(Port) Stanley - Gypsy Cove

(Port) Stanley - Cruise Expedition Day 5

Berthed at Stanley in the Falkland Islands at 5:39 am.  Bus at 8:45 to Gypsy Cove. Returned to ship at 11:30. 
Several local bird species photographed, including Magellanic Penguins (full list in tags).
12 Noon: Departure from Stanley aborted.  Ship pinned to quayside by winds gusting 35 knots. Raining.

pm  Still driving rain and high winds.  A bus service was laid on to take people to and from the town.   Did touristy things: bought souvenirs, visited the museum and photographed landmarks. Used my old camera and kept the new one dry.

The meal this evening was a buffet offering regional delicacies such as: haggis & neeps & tatties, battered fish & chips & mushy peas.

The captain is hopefull that the wind direction will change in the early hours of the morning, allowing us to cast off around 3am.
