Colour

When he (OK, I. When I) first took photographs (as opposed to “pictures”) he (I) cherished the belief that, in order to be a proper, a serious, an ARTISTIC photograph, it had to sidestep the flashiness of colour. The purist would only contemplate black and white. Since then he (yeah, I, look, just assume from now on…) has matured and realises that colour adds another layer of complexity that can deepen the richness of the photograph. He even talks about “pictures” or even “snaps”. He is much more confident and, so, relaxed.

(No, I do realise that this is all true, but I still don’t believe it. Not really.)
