Out and About

Fell Foot

The first dark Monday evening swim of the season. And the water temperature was just below 11ºC  , getting chilly not not too bad once you're in.  We put lights in our tow floats and wear small lights on our heads so that we can see each other clearly.
Interestingly I went to a talk on life in the Poles , given by a guy who has spent the last 40 years managing bases on Antarctica and the Arctic.  He told us that sea water freezes at -1 ºC and showed amazing photos of them diving (in dry suits)  below the ice and swimming with seals. My thought was:  -1ºC that's not so different from  the 5º it gets to in Windermere.
