Great Spotted Woodpecker

I had plans for a Halloween blip today but once I had glanced out of the kitchen window and spotted this beautiful bird on the  bird feeder, those plans were scrapped! 
As far as I can remember, this is only the third time in 23 years that I have seen a woodpecker in our garden. I also think it is the first time I have managed to get any photos of one in our garden so it’s a big deal for me! The shots were taken through the glass but have turned out reasonably well I think and the bird with his crimson head patch is just gorgeous.
