Today felt like 2 days in 1.
We got up at 0200 for the taxi at 0230. We had booked a Volcano hike sunrise tour, very popular but also very notorious for being massively overcrowded and a difficult hike. The taxi driver was totally crazy beyond anything we had experienced so far, I'm amazed he doesn't crash into anything.

At about 0330 we got to a dodgy little compound near the Volcano, when the other tourists had arrived we donned headtorches and started hiking. It was very dusty, with rocks varying from pyroclastic tuff breccia to lapilli tuff, with some lava flows thrown in. Every step was loose and unconsolidated and it was quite steep. By about 0630 we arrived at the top and hung out there a bit. It was actually chilly, though I was just in shorts and a t-shirt, luckily there were some steam vents that gave a bit of warmth. The sunrise was lovely, a nice way to start the day.

The hike down went fast as we could almost ski down the unconsolidated basaltic rocks, and with the sun up it rapidly warmed up. After arriving back at the car we drove 20 minutes to the lake in the photo.

On the shore of the lake are hot Springs, so we paid 20,000 each ~£1, and had an hour relaxing in various pools that had been built around the hotspring water.

We left at 1000, but it felt like 1600... despite the death defying driving we both slept most of the way back to the AirBnB. In the afternoon we chilled out, swam in the pool and recovered. We also went out for another tourist price lunch.

In the evening friends joined again for pool and Cards. We ended up sleeping at about 2230, long tiring but fun day.
