Intensive Care

Second bird blip in as many days, this one slightly sadder than yesterday's. This young blackbird fledgling took a tumble out of its nest, and got knocked about a fair bit; its wing is nothing but bare bones with a few feathers clinging to it. Given that the spot where it fell is the main nightlife drag for cats around here, I scooped it into a box, moved it beyond the reach of all but the most tenacious of felines, added some greenery for it to nestle in, and hoped for the best. Its mother has been hovering around with worms aplenty, so there's hope that it may make it back into the nest.

Still, if things are looking bleak in the morning, I'll have to give the RSPCA a ring and see if they can help the poor fucker. But the way things are going, they'll probably get ATOS to do a work capability assessment on it and conclude that it's faking a knackered wing in order to scrounge a free cardboard box, and by taking a job in a call centre, it can buy its own nest within a decade or two.
