Frangipanni

At the iuDia hotel in Ayutthaya. Situated right next to Chao Phraya river and a few minutes' walk away from Srinagarindra Park, where I went every morning and afternoon to check out the birds. Plenty of bird interest in the park, with Coppersmith Barbets, Blue-tailed Bee-eaters, Olive-backed and Brown-throated Sunbirds, Green-billed Malkohas, Striated Grassbirds and loads of egrets and pond-herons plus two lifers for me: Black Baza and Small Minivet. Around the hotel there were Streak-eared Bulbuls, Oriental Magpie-robins, Common and White-vented Mynas, Red Collared-doves, and often Blue-tailed Bee-eaters. Intermediate Egrets and Openbill Storks roosted each night in a tree across the river.
