Stunning Argyll

Yesterday snapper instructed us to 'enjoy stunning Argyll'. Today we followed her instruction.

The weather was beautiful this morning when Mr hazelh and I set off by car to Craobh Haven. Here we first looked at the boats in the marina, then set off south across the hill and over the peninsula to the village of Ardfern (and another marina). We stopped at Lucy's café in Ardfern for lunch of spiced pumpkin soup, then reversed our route to return to the car at Craobh.

Our waitress at Lucy's told us all about the recent landslide just south of the village, and all the disruption caused by the blocked road. For example, the Ardfern children who are pupils at high school in Lochgilphead are currently being transported to and from their classes by boat! We were keen to take a look at the 6000 tonnes of rock strewn across the A816, but were disappointed to find that they can't be seen from the point at which the road is closed.

Having just returned from another lovely dinner in the hotel dining room, now Mr hazelh is excited to discover that there is a possibility of seeing the aurora borealis in Argyll this evening. That would be quite something...

My blip is of Loch Melfort, snapped as we climbed the hill en route to Ardfern this morning.

Exercise today: walking (16,744 steps).
