DDW June Challenge: A Picture

L.S. Lowry - The Procession (1938)

I love paintings by the late artist L.S. Lowry, and this is a print of one of my favourite pieces.

Lowry is famous for painting scenes of life in the industrial districts of North West England in the mid-20th century. He developed a distinctive style of painting and is best known for urban landscapes peopled with human figures often referred to as "matchstick men"

This is an early work of a crowd watching a trade union procession, with the mills of Manchester in the background, is typical of Lowry's dispassionate observation of human life.

A little ditty: Matchstick Men & Matchstick Cats & Dogs

There is a slight reflection on the shot - but the day is too bright, and time too short too tinker!!!

Another good win for the Lions this morning, looking forward to the first test next week!
