Commemorative Benches

Dock Park in Dumfries is such  wonderful place. The trees are amazing and there is a lot of history attached to this park. As the name suggest, this part along the river used to be the area where barges and boats would land to load and unload goods from around the world. This has stopped some time ago, speeded up by the arrival of the railway in the mid-19th century.
The dock area was then turned into a public park, including a bandstand, and local dignitaries donated cast iron benches. Nine of these are still in the park and well used! DOCK PARK, GROUP OF 9 CAST IRON BENCHES (LB51877) (historicenvironment.scot)
