Guttation

This is Lady’s Mantle. I used the very same plant it a few days ago when overnight rain had covered it in spherical droplets, but this is not from rain. The droplets around the edge of the leaf are forced out out the plant by root pressure. It’s called guttation and you see it quite often on mornings with high humidity. The droplets can contain plant-made chemicals dissolved in the water and they have been useful for researchers study plant physiology.
