Rally for Heroes

At Goodwood Motor Racing Circuit this morning, this line of TVR's took my eye. The TVR was an independent British manufacturer of lightweight sports cars with powerful engines, until 2006 based in Blackpool.

The one nearest the camera had www.rallyforheroes.com written on its bonnet, indicating I guess that it took part in the last Rally for Heroes in 2012, or at least supported it. The rally covered 5 countries in 7 days and the event raised £123,000 for Help for Heroes and the Royal British Legion.

The ethos of the event is to drive 5 miles for each service man or woman who has died since the beginning of the Afghanistan conflict. The number continues to rise - in 2010 they covered 1700 miles, in 2012 the figure was 2200. The next rally in 2014 is expected to cover 2600 miles.

Hot off the Press:
Last week it was announced that TVR is back in Britain!!
Watch this space.

I'm feeling great at the moment, enjoying the lull before the next cycle begins. Wonderful to be able to do 'normal' everyday things for a while.
