Did you ever wonder?

Did you ever wonder what a tree trunk looks like where the branches form?  I found the answer today in our neighbour's firewood pile. 

I spent the day helping mum with shopping,  fixing drapes and helping with some banking issues. It was great timing when a friend called to see if I wanted a coffee just as I was saying goodbye to mum.
