Life after Burradoo, NSW

Fantastic engineering

We had read about and seen photos of the Kelpies near Falkirk. None of it prepared us for the extraordinary sight of the horses’ heads rising out of the ground. They are 100ft tall and weigh more than 300 tonnes each. The works of art, created by artist Andy Scott, are modelled on real-life icons— Clydesdale horses Duke and Baron. The Kelpies honour the contribution of the heavy horse to Scottish industry and economy, pulling wagons, ploughs, barges and coalships.

It is amazing how a structure made of steel can capture so much warmth and movement. We are so pleased we made the trip from Linlithgow to see them.
