I do love a castle

When planning a trip to the UK I always look forward to visiting castles, cathedrals and stately homes. We don't have castles and not much of stately homes and cathedrals in Australia. We certainly don't have the rich built history of the UK and Europe. Our timing this time hasn't been great for seeing these wonders (most are closed) but we had additional incentives for coming this time.

We did have a lovely time visiting Stirling Castle. What a history! The view from th top was terrific. I couldn't find out what the circular mounds are. I imagine they had something to do with the fortifications of the castle.
