Blue Tits

Bro1 has been desperate for a sneak peek into the nest box in the apple tree. Today I relented, we got the very rickety ladder out and climbed up for a quick look. He squealed with delight when he peeked in and saw the bundle of baby Blue Tits.

We left the nest box alone for a while to let the parent birds in and out a few times with food and then I braved the ladder to climb up, peek inside and snatch a blip.

To let the other Bros climb the rusty old ladder would have been a recipe for disaster so they have this blip to look at instead. The Bros are pleased to see the duck feathers have been put to good use to build such a cosy nest.

Nest box cameras are firmly on birthday lists for this autumn so we'll be ready for next spring and hopefully some of our nest boxes will again be chosen as prime residences.
