Cabbage Tree Flowers….

Yes….,the cabbage trees are in flower…. Signaling a long, dry hot summer to come. I was lucky enough to come across a young tree with flowers within reach of the camera lens. A cloudy day with a stiff, cold easterly breeze. It looked like rain but didn’t.
My immediate neighbours invited me over for dinner this evening. Their mother was visiting from the Hokianga, in Northland. So we enjoyed a sumptuous roast meats and vegetables galore meal with homemade apple pie to follow. Yum. And such good company.
