Why not come in

Todays talk at the museum was a one man show by local poet Robert Garnham, a show he wrote and performed for the Edinburgh Fringe this summer, and entitled Bouncer. The posters on the lamppost outside are our attempt to lure in passers by, and people waiting at the bus stop.

Robert has the chance to be on prime time TV! What could possibly go wrong? A comedy poetry show about not becoming famous.

When Robert is asked to perform on the UK’s biggest TV talent show, he dreams of fame and fortune and never having to leaflet in Edinburgh again! But of course, these things never go the way you want them to go . . .It was an hour of storytelling, poetry and comedy about fame, and hope, and dreaming - the hopes and the dreams that we all have. Often we know deep down that some of these dreams might not ever come true. That’s just the way things work out.
Bouncer is based on true events. Asked to appear on a prime time TV show – (in this case, a leading talent contest) – it tells of the artifice which lay behind the whole experience.
It was stunning. A tour de force by a man not without talent.
By the way Bouncer was the name of the dog in Neighbours , but it all makes complete sense.
