Castle Hill

We had a lovely day today with our delightful hosts, J and E, in Honley in Yorkshire. As well as visiting some personally very significant sites they took us up to Castle Hill which provides 360° panoramic views of Huddersfield and its surrounding areas, including Honley. The tower on the top of the hill is the grade II listed Victoria Tower, which was completed in 1899 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Queen Victoria’s reign. Perched on the crest of Castle Hill, the Tower is constructed of stone from Abbey and Hanson’s quarry in nearby Crossland Hill, and stands 106 feet high.
