Zigzag

Day 4 of our Tuscan holiday.

Drove to see a couple of popular photo destinations in the morning, but it was grey at first and then came a heavy shower. After it had passed, I drove through the same small road we drove through in the downpour on Wednesday evening, and the weather got better towards the end. One photo from there in the extra #1.

The day trip destination was Montepulciano, where we drove via Monticchiello to get a shot of the famous cypress road in better weather than the evening before (extra #2). In Montepulciano we walked all the way to the piazza, 110 metres up from the parking garage. Lunch was very much needed on the way back down! A shot from a viewpoint in extra #3.

Afterwards back to Pienza via La Foce, where we drove down a very small and steep road to the viewpoint of the other famous cypress road of Val d'Orcia, in the main blip. Almost couldn't get back up the hill after turning the car!

The route from there to Pienza was quite a zigzag, too, although it didn't pass through that particular road. A view from the valley in the extra #4.
