Gaudi’s marvel

Flight at 9:30 from Glasgow. Woke at 5:20 so up, ready and away by 5:50. Was surprised how much traffic there was on the way to Glasgow.

Thankfully no accidents on the motorway - there was a car fire that shut the road two days ago and we had a good run through.

Breakfast at Pret, no Nero in Glasgow! It’s a long long time since I flew from here, it’s become second to Edinburgh but there was a time long ago when Glasgow was the top airport in Scotland.

Smooth flight over, it was a busy one too. Off the flight and then On to the bus just outside the terminal. Our hotel is 10 mins walk from Plaça Catalunya.

Very surprised when arrived to check in to hear we have been given an upgrade! A top floor room with a terrace. I can’t remember getting an upgrade before. Ben loved the terrace which has two sun beds and a table and chairs. There is also a pool and loungers etc on top of the hotel but that’s shut atm.

Unpacked, went for food to a lovely cafe round the corner. They make their own tartare sauce with the crispy chicken and potatoes I had and Ben had the pancakes with bacon . Delicious. We bought some little mini cake thingys at a bakers along with empanadas for later on the way to the Sagrada. What a stunning awe inspiring structure. There were no tickets for the tower so we aren’t going inside but enjoyed the music and the ambiance outside it.

Next was a walk down Las Ramblas , just as the sun was setting. It’s warm and a little breeze and 18 degrees. Perfect for sightseeing.

We are shattered now and I want to get to bed. Tomorrow it’s the open top bus.
