Halford Lodge

Our days have followed a broad pattern recently - garden work in the morning, dog walk in the afternoon and supper in front of the fire.

Today was no different and we are happy with progress in the garden. Slow, but moving towards our objective, having turned a very large area of unwanted lawn into perennial beds with lots of interest. Tomorrow we plough on with the landscaping and new patio. Can't wait for it to be finished!

My walk with Hollie today was alongside the River Onny in the tiny hamlet of Halford, just outside Craven Arms. I have blipped from here before and I always like to keep an eye on the river. It has burst it's banks here due to the amount of rain of late, but has settled down now, but still too 'vigorous' to allow Hollie to swim.

There are some fine old properties in Halford and Halford Lodge is a very interesting, if not slightly creepy old property. The elderly residents generally glare at you from the garden but seem unwilling to engage.

Shame, I bet they are interesting to talk to once you get to know them..
