VETERAN'S DAY

We know that it's supposed to be observed at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.....but this year, it's a Saturday and there's no school. So the ceremony was held today on the 10th.

All local veterans of the Armed Services are invited to attend.  Lots of patriotic music courtesy of the high school choir and senior band.  The band was particularly great today.  I don't know how Jodi does it.......she loses some very talented musicians to graduation every year and every year grade schoolers step up and take their place.  Jodi manages to get the absolute most out of the talent she has inherited.  She's a real gem and a helluva great teacher.

Our guest speaker was a 2012 graduate of our little school.  He served in Afghanistan for two tours in the Army National Guard.  He did a great job speaking.  After presentations of patriotic poems, the entire student body rose and shook the hands of all the veterans assembled and thanked them for their service.  Afterwards, the Culinary Arts classes at the high school served the vets a very nice luncheon.

At the end of the day, the band jumped on a bus and motored downtown to have their annual group photo taken...you know who did that.  You were probably wondering what this photo had to do with Veteran's Day.  Perhaps now you have it figured out.
