Derelict old stoves

The stove on the left has a brand badge - UMI (United Metal Industries). This was a Brisbane based industry that made stoves and other household appliances in the 1950s. Their models were innovative enough for examples to have made it into museums. In 1961 UMI was taken over by Malleys.

The stove on the right is a Chef brand. I bought a Chef underbench oven when I bought the house I live in which at the time had no kitchen. The Chef oven was cheap and I bought it because I'd overextended myself - needs must - but it was a poor choice. I knew when the wiring behind one of the switches burst into flames. Out it went. Moved on since then.
