I happened to see the squirrel sitting under the feeder this morning and the blue jay landed on the feeder. The squirrels and the blue jays have learned to tolerate each other. There are still some days that one will try to intimidate the other one.
I wish I knew what came off the roof yesterday (it was a blur) and tried to take out a crow that was sitting on the railing. I heard a thump at the same time my brain registered that something had come off the roof. The crow disappeared and there were a few feathers on the ground. About an hour later the crow was back on the railing, at least I think it was the same one. People have said it could have been a hawk, owl, peregrine falcon or another crow. 
I went to a potluck supper tonight with the group that was formed after the drama of a couple weeks ago. I will likely go to their Christmas party, but beyond that I doubt that I will be involved in many events. Several of them seem to want to go to a bar or the casino and I have no interest in going out drinking, not when I have to drive home.
