The Boss

Harisen made his way, to the Karonga district close to the Tanzanian border, about 200 km north of Mzuzu, to help a new community to install two new pumps.
I got 7 pics in all, but none showing a working pump. As often happens the network connection failed.
He assures me that all went well and the the forty families now have clean water.
The pic shows the Chief directing operations while the villagers put on the concrete cover. The pump screws into the steel coupler in the centre.

Our partners in this project are Every Home Global Concern and a few little water facts from their website:

FOR LACK OF CLEAN WATER A CHILD DIES EVERY 8 SECONDS

Yes, a child somewhere in the world is dying every 8 seconds from drinking contaminated water.

The world is desperate for water. Right now, there are more than 1 billion people who do not have access to clean water.

An estimated 10,000 people, the majority children or infants, die each day from water-related illnesses. Imagine the outcry if 12 jumbo jets filled with children crashed, leaving no survivors! The equivalent number of children die every day for want of clean water.
