Forth & Clyde Canal

Beautiful sharp chilly day on the Firth of Clyde, anchored off Rhu, tendered into the marina, boarded the coach for the short drive to Hill House, Charles Rennie MacIntosh designed home for the publisher Walter Blackie and family complete in 1901, the house has a special designed box to dry the house as sadly over the years there is much dampness
THe house is a treat however the Box is equally a wonderful architectural design ! See extras

After returning to ship for lunch it was a perfect day to sail up the Clyde towards the City Centre,  passing Glasgow landmarks past and present,
Blip is the west end of the Canal at Bowling built in late 18thc to transport goods from west to east and vice versa to the town of Falkirk where the boats could transit through the locks to the Union Canal and onwards to Edinburgh, or sail out to the Firth of Forth

We passed the new naval frigate HMS Glasgow in process of being built (extra ) turning at King George V dock to sail to Greenock for our overnight anchor

A grand day indeed ! So fortunate to call this work! I’ve been to so many wonderful places again this year!
