Hellos and goodbyes

At 5.30am,D left for Japan to see Sarah . It was a beautiful sunny morning. We had gone to sleep at about half past ten when it was still light outside and a cuckoo was calling in the garden.
Today I noticed that some new cattle had appeared in the field next to our house. Last year's young bullocks were really curious and came right up to the fence. A couple even let me pat their heads. There are some new sheep in there as well, the ewes freshly sheared and the lambs fat and woolly.
It's half past ten again now, still light and the peacock is making a lot of noise outside the window. Maybe, like me, he doesn't want to go to bed until darkness falls.
It could be a long night... and meanwhile, D is somewhere over Siberia...
