The Long Country Road Home

This is a view that blesses drivers on the country road between Allendale & Hexham. It really is quite stunning, today particularly so.

After packing the car with all our bags & more (it's inevitable), we said our goodbye's, making sure Bailey the cat wasn't hiding away in any of the nooks & crannies of the car, & off we set for the South.

We managed a quick pit stop in Hexham for some last minute weekend holiday shopping, but otherwise we had a fairly good journey, only encountering some traffic on the dreaded M25 (no shock there). And you won't be surprised to discover it didn't take us long, I don't think we'd made it out of Hexham to be honest, before we were delving into our rations & the delicious Allendale butcher's scotch egg & pork pie. Lovely.

The blue sky & warmth have followed us down, & it has been an enjoyable weekend spent with Jenny's family in Yorkshire & Northumberland. From one break to the next, it's now less than one week until we'll be jet-setting off for our hugely exciting & much deserved summer holiday. We cannot wait now! Monkey in particular, it'll be his first.
