Salmon at Newburgh.

After a productive day yesterday I had great plans for today which came to nought. Feeding the birds is a must and I did do my exercises but that was it until the afternoon  when I took myself to Newburgh to walk beside the Tay and photograph the salmon sculpture.  There was a fishing settlement at Newburgh from 1191 and by 1800 there were 4 jetties and 40 boats catching salmon and sprat. The railway which arrived at 1848 was much higher in the town and had no link with the harbours which contributed to their decline. The whole harbour area is now grassed and is a pleasant place to walk and picnic. Also very popular with photographers.
