Life through my eyes

By Amanda_T

A sombre day

This morning was a trip to Hill 62, Sanctuary Wood where the Canadians held off the Germans. From there to Ypres, or Wipers as the British Troops called it. Rebuilt now as virtually nothing was left standing after the war. We had time to see the Menin Gate and get lunch. After lunch we went to the Tyne Cott Cemetery. All in all a very somber day but also made us both grateful for our family members that returned home and those who gave everything for us.
