Crazy About Birds

Happy Guy

The pileated woodpecker was back again today snarfing up the seeds from the magnolia tree in the front yard. There were also, interestingly, three crows that were eating some of the seeds, but they hung back respectfully when the woodpecker was there. I guess his beak is nothing they want to mess with. Crows and pileated woodpeckers are very similar in size.

Two extras - one where he's up in the tree, the other on the ground with his crest raised.

You can tell it's a male because of his red "mustache" - which the female doesn't have.
