The Smithy Farm House

A lovely rustic old building from the original settlement at Gibson's Wines in the Barossa Valley. This Smithy's House (Blacksmith) is used as one of their wine names (originally housed the Smithy and his family of 10). We met "Gibbo" the winemaker (and ex geologist) who is quite a character at just over 70YO. We particularly liked his "Bin 60" Cabernet / Shiraz vintage wine that was made especially for his 60th birthday (his favourite also, and only 2000 bottled). At $385 a bottle is was worth it... A "Bin 70" version has just been released and probably needs another decade to mature (same price)....
