An ordinary life....

Snow moon...

Well the day had an earlier start than anticipated.

I was having one of my insomnia spells so was awake at 5am when Agnes knocked on our bedroom door to say Adrian had woken up with numbness in his left arm, nausea and chest pain and she'd called an ambulance.  Gulp!

Given that the holiday cottage isn't near any main hospitals we knew it would be a little while till the paramedics arrived, so we quickly got showered and dressed so we would be ready to be of use if needs be.  Poor Adrian was annoyed he was "making a fuss" so got a telling off.  Better safe than sorry!

A paramedic arrived and spent an hour checking Adrian over and running various tests.  His conclusion was he didn't think it was a cardiac incident but couldn't be 100% sure so suggested Adrian arrange a blood test asap to check.  He did say his symptoms could be related to another condition that Adrian is currently about to be tested for.

Adrian contacted his health centre when it opened at 8am to discuss the best way to get a blood test.  He was informed that if it was arranged through his GP it would be two weeks before he got the blood test and another two weeks before he got the results!  He was advised the best thing to do would be to go to A&E and have a blood test there.  They decided to go to Borders General and we shooed them off reassuring them we would pack up the remaining stuff and get the cottage back to how we found it.  We knew we would be at the cottage till 10am and told them to let us know if they needed anything once they were at the hospital and we could take it to them.

We left at 10am and with no requests from Anges, headed home.  The countryside was so beautiful in the snow.  The country lanes were a bit treacherous but thankfully by the time we reached the main roads conditions were much better.

We were just in the door at 12.20 when I received a text from Agnes to say Adrian's blood test and chest X-ray were clear and he'd been given the all clear to head home.  Much relief all round!  As they were only a few minutes from Abbotsford they were going to head there for some lunch (none of us were in the mood for breakfast earlier) then head home.

Relived at the news, we delayed unpacking and headed to the golf club for lunch.  The lamb burger was delicious.  D had the chicken burger and said it was lovely too.

Back home to unpack then some more online Christmas shopping before settling down to watch this week's episode of Shetland.

Another early rise tomorrow as me, D and Alan have our flu and covid jabs in Perth.  If it's not pouring rain or snowing I might take the chance to visit some shops afterwards and possibly complete my Christmas shopping :-))
