Dag 2

Another cold, crisp day.

After a longish lie-in and a leisurely breakfast, we enjoyed a short walk around Arkel, stopping at the wine shop to stock up :-).

After lunch we headed to Leerdam,  a centre for glassmaking as well as eponymous cheese. We visited the Glass Museum and then had a stroll around where we came across a mini-sculpture park where we spotted these larger than life glass fire ants.

The museum was small but with an interesting collection of mainly 20th century glass and included artistic pieces as well as everyday glassware. There was also one section with pieces from 2000 years ago (or thereabouts) set alongside modern equivalents.

My sister is now preparing this evening's meal and I suspect some more champagne will be opened
