Quod oculus meus videt

Ice and Mist

Bitterly cold first thing, and during the whole day the temperature didn't appear to rise above freezing.  The pavement outside the house was like an ice rink, probably a combination of the fog and temperatures.

Ont eh way back from the supermarket I drove down this lane and just loved how the frost had iced the trees branches.  Combined with the fog to provide recession in the scene, it was quite appealing.

It was too icy for L to ride so we visited her Mom, along with one of L's cousins, who hadn't seen her since the diagnosis of dementia.  You're never sure, so it was a relief that she remembered him and was able to chat about old times.  It does seem that her long term memory is good, but she can forget that she asked you whether you wanted a drink a minute ago.

After lunch we took a brisk walk around Chasewater Lake, where the heritage railway was running its Santa Special for local families.
