Randomness in nature

There are so many lovely photos of natural patterns that we see here and elsewhere; ice, petals, chalk particles, fir cones etc. and most of them have regular patterns. So this lovely bark caught my eye, especially because it seemed to be totally random throughout the tree.

Anyone who knows what this tree is welcome to make suggestions, I'll add some more images of the leaves and buds another time. All I know is that it's living without apparent issues in the S of England.

Having said that random is less common, when I next want a regular natural pattern, I hope that I can find one.
