A day behind!

Recently I went to Wasdale and here the only brightest thing was this 'post box.'  (The sun did come out later though.)  I noticed this positioned at the end of a long straight lane which I assume led to a house.  First, why yellow and who constructed it?  The latter was answered by the name on the bottom: WT Allen of London.  It is an old Victorian post box, but why yellow?  Any ideas?  This box stands out from the tree background though.
This should have been Blipped yesterday and how strange I didn't blip it!!!!
Hopefully get on track with today's Blip.
