At last a morning without rain (didn’t last long mind you!), so we decided to walk down to see the printmaker’s art exhibition at the National Gallery. Fascinating, and some very beautiful and intricate pieces which we both really enjoyed. Learned a lot about the many different techniques that can be used and was surprised at the age of some of them, with some very beautiful fine grained work from the early 17th century.
We also did a quick tour of the new Scottish art galleries before walking home, when the rain started, popping into a couple of shops on the way but not to buy anything.
Over to J&M’s party for a very brief period but lovely to see a number of people and catch up on some news. Managed a couple of canapés - would have been nice to stay longer but we had to dash off to the Usher Hall for a performance of Daphne the opera. Some lovely parts to it, and once again I was impressed with the soprano lead ….she’s so tiny but has such a pure and powerful voice, whilst we were there, AR was in London at a performance of Six the musical which I’d got her for her birthday. H said she was absolutely entranced…she knows all the words off by heart as she listens incessantly to the soundtrack and whispered along to it all as she watched. It brings together two of her favourite things… Tudor history and a musical! Glad she had a good time and I’m looking forward to seeing her on Wednesday for her actual birthday.
Finally home and we had a leftovers supper and watched some TV…Strictly result as expected and we’re all set up now for the final next weekend,
