Orcas Return to South Beach, American Camp

The Orca whales have been gone for a bit, but returned today to the southwest corner of San Juan Island. We were looking for the hard to find "Marble Butterfly" at South Beach, American Camp at Cattle Point. There were no butterflies, just sections of open fields with electric fences to keep people like me OUT ;)))) And I didn't see any butterflies in the fenced areas...maybe next season! But we did see the Orcas directly off the beach...they were out quite a long way...but I caught one who breached twice. It was rather humorous as the whale watching boat was watching another whale on the other side of it's boat...they MISSED both breaches!!!
We also took a drive up to top of Dallas Mountain which gave us an amazing view west to Canada. We also took some fun shots at Lime Kiln Lighthouse, and watched a group of kayakers speed by.
