La vida de Annie

Juguete para perros.

My dear husband of 3 weeks and a day went to Lidl today for a few essentials. Nothing on the list was in stock, not even the “nice surprise” I’d requested (with a strong hint for Christmas socks). He did however bring a dog toy. A single dog toy with two small monsters jostling for position is a disaster waiting to happen. It didn’t wait long however - they destroyed it within 20 seconds, pulling off the squeaky snowman head and rattly ball. I had to confiscate it when they started pulling out the stuffing.
Musing on shopping experiences, I have to say Lidl is the worst. It seems to attract groups of middle aged ladies talking animatedly in the middle of aisles or blocking the shelves you want to access. The till operatives work so fast that you can’t repack your trolley at the same speed the items are scanned, and then starting on the next customer while you’re still packing. The last one I saw was scanning faster than the machine could register things. The last supermarket we went to, Binipreu, was completely different. We’d only gone in for a couple of things so didn’t bother getting a trolley. Of course we ended up getting a shedload of impulse buys we couldn’t carry. I vetoed getting another “bag for life” as there are bags of many more bags at home, and in fact some in the car boot. The car was too far away to run and get a bag out, so the helpful cashier suggested getting a trolley to transport the stuff. One problem - neither of us had a euro coin and the one we normally use was in the car! The kind lady buzzed for a security person to unlock a trolley for us and bring it to the till. Now that’s what I call customer service, and all with a cheerful smile and no rushing.
