Squirrel walking the tightrope

I got this on a quick walk this evening. I heard the steam engine but only caught it reversing on its way to the maintenance yard. My lens was too wide to get a good photo.

Riddle took a turn for the worse today, so we made the decision to take him to the vet for the inevitable. Here's a write-up I made:

Riddle -- our fluffy, loving, handsome, cuddly little buddy -- died today. He was 18 years, 8 months old, older than some of Jill's freshmen.

Riddle was friendly and enjoyed everyone's company. He loved howling, walking, and farting. Barking at nothing was a specialty. His favorite thing in the world was turkey, and every Thanksgiving he'd lose his mind for about a week because he expected turkey to magically appear out of the fridge.

He had a devil-may-care attitude. When Jill rescued him and introduced him to Delilah, he sniffed her, recognized her as his daughter, and went on his merry way. He welcomed Bruno and Millie into the house. Though Millie annoyed him sometimes because she pounced on him to play, Riddle would annoy her back by standing outside her playpen, knowing she couldn't get to him.

We celebrated so many birthdays and milestones with him. He was a wonderful little guy, and we already miss him so much.

Chase all the turkeys. Bark at the postal workers. Howl to your heart's content. We'll love you forever, Riddle.
