Cheeky Macaque

Spent the day wandering around Launceston.  Started with a walk to the Design Tasmania gallery.  As we were too early we had a look in City Park next door.  Amazed to find that within the park there is an enclosure of Japanese Macaques.  They were originally gifted by the city of Ikeda which is Launceston's Japanese sister city.  Main shows one of them running off with a pumpkin.  Then we cut back through the alleys where a black cat was spotted (extra 1).  After lunch at the riverside we went to the Queen Victoria Art Gallery.  Lots of interesting stuff but the favourite was the Miniature Worlds exhibition.  Extra 2 shows a model of Launceston Gasworks by Melbourne-based miniaturist David Hourigan.  Final extra shows a late afternoon view of Cataract Gorge which is about ten minutes drive from the city centre.
