Birds on the Pier

Anyone who has been to Morecambe Pier will know that there are a lot of statues of birds , supposedly representing the rich bird life in the area.  So why there is a very large statue of a mythical South American bird I have no idea.  Son R trying to be a cormorant in extra. The pier cafe was closed, so we treated ourselves to lunch in the Midland Hotel. It was not busy, we got a window seat.
Weather very cold and windy but dry.  We left Mr P back home in the Lakes, where it rained all day.
