Fungus

The chunk of wood in this photo has been sitting on the ground next to one of our rock benches - in front of the house - for months. Suddenly it has produced this fungus! Well - I say suddenly - but really who knows when I last actually looked at it?? Still - it wasn't there when I plunked that piece of wood there months ago. Fungi are amazing and fascinating.
